Background

Nutritional Information Solutions (NIS) operates within the Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), under the management of QIB Extra. With over 40 years of experience in food composition, the service is built on the scientific expertise of the Food Databanks National Capability, which maintains the UK’s official McCance and Widdowson’s food composition dataset. This dataset, CoFID, is the legal standard used to generate accurate, regulation-compliant nutrition labels.

The service was developed to meet the needs of food businesses—particularly small to medium-sized enterprises—seeking a reliable and cost-effective alternative to laboratory testing. Through this platform, clients can access full-service nutrition labelling based on recipe data or use a self-service calculator, developed in partnership with Nutritics, for ongoing in-house labelling work.

Nutritional Information Solutions enables producers to meet the requirements of EU and UK food labelling regulations (EU 1169/2011) while saving both time and resources, making it an essential tool for regulatory compliance and product transparency.

Nutritional Information Solutions offers affordable and accurate solutions through providing cost-effective recipe-based nutrition labelling using the F&N–NBRI 2021 labelling dataset. Self-Calculation Subscription
